Art is a Scream of Freedom - Exploring the Healing Power of Art🎨

Updated: Aug 7

The Erasmus+ Mobility of Youth Workers project "Art is a Scream of Freedom!" (Project Code: 2024-3-HU01-KA153-YOU-000265010) continued in Budapest, Hungary with another inspiring day of experiential learning. 🖌️
Participants engaged in a series of hands-on creative workshops designed to highlight the therapeutic value of art. Activities included painting, origami, jigsaw puzzle challenges, and handmade jewellery workshops, each encouraging participants to express themselves in different ways. Beyond developing artistic skills, these sessions demonstrated how creative hobbies can improve concentration, reduce anxiety, strengthen patience, and promote emotional well-being. Working individually and in groups also fostered cooperation, empathy, and meaningful communication among participants from different cultural backgrounds.
Throughout the workshops, participants reflected on how these simple yet effective activities could be transferred into their daily youth work practices. Discussions focused on adapting art-based methods for young people experiencing stress, social exclusion, or emotional difficulties. By experiencing these techniques firsthand, youth workers gained practical tools that can be implemented in workshops, youth exchanges, community centres, and local educational initiatives. The activities also reinforced the project's objective of promoting art therapy as an accessible approach to supporting mental health through non-formal education.
✨ The creative workshops demonstrated that art is much more than a form of expression, it is also a powerful instrument for healing, confidence-building, and social connection. As participants transformed ideas into creative works, they also strengthened their professional competences and expanded their educational toolbox. These experiences will enable youth workers to develop more inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environments while contributing to the wider goals of the Erasmus+ Programme and promoting positive mental health within their communities.
